§ 01 / Overview

A quickly growing regional basketball brand had outgrown the tools it started with. Coach scheduling, family communications, registration, and recurring tuition were spread across spreadsheets, group texts, and ad-hoc channels with no shared source of truth. We're partnering with the program owner to design and build a custom native iOS app that consolidates the program onto one surface coaches, parents, and players actually use, purpose-built for how this program operates and architected as a foundation for AI-powered capabilities that will compound value as the program scales.

§ 02 / Challenge

What was getting in the way.

With 24+ teams and 4 coaches, the program had outgrown its tooling. Coaches were running schedules from spreadsheets and resolving conflicts by text, families were missing updates buried in long group threads, and tuition and tournament fees were collected through whichever channel happened to work, with no shared source of truth and no way to scale the operation. Off-the-shelf platforms either forced the program to change how it operates or bundled features the team didn't need at a price that didn't fit a community business.

§ 03 / Solution

What we actually shipped.

We're building a native iOS app on Swift / SwiftUI with role-aware experiences for owners, lead coaches, helper coaches, parents, and players. The platform consolidates coach scheduling with conflict detection and tournament mode, a family feed with RSVPs and a single comms thread, Stripe Connect payments for registration and recurring tuition, push / SMS / email notifications with per-family preferences, bulk roster import, and a minimal web admin shell. Delivered through a five-phase roadmap (discovery, prototype, fall pilot, hardening, and org-wide launch) with two-week iteration cycles informed by real coach and parent feedback. The data model and architecture are deliberately built as a foundation for advanced AI capabilities (auto-generated practice plans, smart conflict resolution, and predictive insights into player development and program health) that will drive long-term efficiency and unlock new value as the program scales.
